LEGO Minifigure Catalogue Codes Explained (sw0614, col435 and Friends)

What the short code at the end of every minifigure title means, what the prefixes stand for and how to use them to find the exact figure you want.

If you've browsed our shop, you'll have noticed that every minifigure title ends with a short code in brackets, such as sw0614 or col435. It looks like a stock number, but it's actually the most useful thing on the page. Here's what the codes mean and how to use them.

What is a catalogue code?

A catalogue code is a short identifier made of letters and numbers. The letters tell you the theme or range, and the number identifies the individual minifigure within it. It points to exactly one character design, which makes it far more reliable than a name. Plenty of characters have been released several times in different outfits, so "Luke Skywalker" alone doesn't tell you which one you're looking at.

The codes we use are the same ones BrickLink uses, so you can compare a figure against a huge collector reference with no guesswork.

Common prefixes

  • sw – Star Wars
  • sh – Super Heroes (Marvel and DC)
  • col – Collectible Minifigures (the blind-bag series)
  • colmar – Marvel Studios collectible series
  • dis – Disney
  • lor – The Lord of the Rings
  • coldnd – Dungeons & Dragons collectible series

So sw0614 is a Star Wars figure (our example is the Senate Commando), and col435 is from the Collectible Minifigures range.

Why codes help you

  1. Searching. Type the code into the search bar and you'll jump straight to that figure.
  2. Avoiding mix-ups. Two figures can look very similar but differ in a printed detail. The code settles it.
  3. Tracking your collection. A list of codes is the easiest way to record what you own and what you still need.
  4. Checking prices. You can look the same code up elsewhere and compare like for like.

Reading our product titles

All our titles follow one pattern: LEGO® [Theme] Minifigure – [Character name] ([catalogue code]). Then you'll find a condition grade (New, Used - part-built, Used - good or Used - worn) so you know what state the figure is in. The condition guide explains each.

Looking for a figure you can't find?

If you know the code but we don't have it in stock, or you're hunting a figure to finish a set, tell us. We keep an eye out for wanted figures and we'll try to find it for you.
